Are you a SENCO looking to reduce your workload and train another member of staff to do some of your assessments? Or a SENCO looking to understand assessments better?
This is a course designed for TAs/HLTAs/ Assistant SENCOs or new SENCOs. It will include the theory of assessments, how to get the most out of identification checklists as well as basic assessments, and also look at what the next steps might be following the assessments. When you book, we will ask what assessments you may wish to have covered and we will try our best to include them (although this cannot be guaranteed). We will look at assessments that cover all four broad areas of need. Participants will be given a number of free assessments and checklists, a short powerpoint to disseminate what they have learned with other members of staff, and a certificate.
Dyslexia - understanding the new definition and how to update your in-school screening and support

Learn about the new Delphi definition of Dyslexia and how you can use resources you may already have in school as a screening tool. Whilst containing theory, this course will also provide you with plenty or practical advice and you will leave having designed a dyslexia screener suitable for your school.
Delivering evidence-based numeracy Interventions on a budget

In this course we will look at what the research and evidence tells us makes a good numeracy intervention. we will then look at how to deliver those elements as part of a numeracy intervention that, whilst personalised, won't break your budget!

Increasingly we are having pupils in our school for whom English is an Additional Language, and this cohort of students will have the same prevelence as the English Speaking cohort. so how can we tease apart what might be causing their difficulty with learning. in this training we will look at some of the similarities and differences faced by pupils learning in a different language and how you can identify whether the difficulty is due to their language or an underlying learning need.
