Dyslexia screener - £250
This is a 1 hour assessment that covers the main areas of a full diagnostic assessment and can identify the likelihood that your child has dyslexia or not. Following the assessment you will receive a short report with a learning profile as well as a handy action plan for home and suggested recommendations for school.
Upgrade to full diagnostic assessment - £250
If the screener indicates that your child may have dyslexia, you can choose to upgrade the screener to a full diagnostic assessment. If you choose this option we will book two dates within 4 weeks of each other. The first date will be the screener and the second will be the rest of the assessments needed. This second date can be cancelled free of charge if there is no indication of dyslexia in the screener. Note - the two dates have to be within 4 weeks of each other to be valid. Should you decide to have a full assessment after this time, you will need to wait for at least 6 months and then the full assessment (£500) will be required for the assessment to be valid. The results would be discussed with you in an hour long phone conversation.
Home screener - £150
For this option, I would provide you with some activities to carry out with your child at home. You would then send the results to me and I would compile a learning profile with an action plan. This would be discussed with you in a half hour phone conversation.
This package includes a full, official dyslexia assessment that meets the standards required by governing bodies. For older students it can be used for DSA should they go to higher education. If your child is under 7, please see the Specialist Assessment section below.
Once this assessment is completed, it should never need to be repeated as it meets the current regulations for the official diagnosis of dyslexia. This is evidenced by my qualifications and professional memberships.
For more information, please see the FAQs section.
If a formal diagnosis is not required, your child is below 8, or if the difficulties are not dyslexic in nature, a learning assessment can be tailored to help you learn more about your child's profile of strengths and weaknesses. Areas that can be covered include either literacy, numeracy, memory, language, visual perception or motor skills. The assessment will involve gathering background information, spending up to 1 hour with your child conducting formal assessments and having informal discussions. Following this, I will contact you for a 1 hour problem solving and feedback session. You will then get a written report containing all scores, observations and recommendations for provision.
If your child is having a dyslexia or specialist assessment but you would also like another area investigated e.g., motor skills, then this can be added on to the price of the assessment and carried out at the same time. Any of the areas for Specialist Assessments are available as an 'add on'.
If you are educating your child at home, but would like oversight from a qualified teacher, then get in touch. You might want support with designing a learning plan, setting goals, monitoring progress or problem solving challenges. Whatever your needs, I can help.
Prices start from £100 for 2 hours but discounts offered for 'bulk buys' e.g., £500 for 6x2hr sessions throughout the year.
